Who Are We?Pots of Fun was set up in 2001 by Gillian Groom and Caroline Spencer. Gillian and Caroline first met through a mutual friend when they started their first jobs in London. Since then they have shared many life changing events, including all girl holidays, several house moves, changing jobs, broken hearts, wonderful marriages (our husbands told us we had to say that!) and children. The idea to start a Ceramic painting business came about over a cup of coffee the day after Gillian decided to give up her job at Barclaycard in April 2001. Caroline and Gillian were discussing what Gillian wanted to do. Caroline had been to several painting sessions at a Ceramic Cafe in London and thought them a good idea but was worried about the overheads and committment of premises. Then the idea struck about doing a mobile service, taking the ceramics to the customers. Pots of Fun was born. Within days Caroline and Gillian had found a training course to find out all about the business. After two days intensive training in North Yorkshire (thanks to Sylvia and Mark), Caroline and Gillian were still convinced this was a good idea. In 2003 Caroline moved back to London, leaving Gillian to run Pots of Fun on her own for the foreseeable future. | |

Gillian GroomGillian is married to Stewart (he has a flooring business Stewart Groom Flooring so he wants a free advert on this site). She has one daughter called Bryony. Gillian is one of those strange people who likes Maths!! For the last 12 years she has been doing the difficult sums for most of the major banks in the UK and even some in Europe and South Africa. Most recently she worked for Barclaycard but she has now seen the error of her ways and is going to give up maths for something that is much more fun!!! |
